CAFOD
A major development agency that works to raise awareness of the causes of poverty and how to bring about change. They are involved in overseas aid work, campaigning and education work in the UK, and offer activity resources, information, support and small grants to youth projects.

Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT)
CAT aims to 'inspire, inform, and enable' people to live more sustainably. CAT offers practical solutions to environmental problems focusing on renewable energy, environmental building, energy efficiency, organic growing and alternative sewage systems. A visitor centre is open 7 days a week and CAT also produces publications, maintains web-based activities and runs residential courses.

Christian Aid
An agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland, Christian Aid works wherever the need is greatest, irrespective of religion. It supports local organisations as well as giving help on the ground through 16 overseas offices. Its education website, m:power, aims to equip youth workers to inspire youth groups to find out about the world and take action to make it a fairer place by supplying information, resources and ways to get involved.

Compassion in World Farming

Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens (FCFCG)
FCFCG is a network organisation which promotes, supports and represents groups engaged in community-led development of open space. Greenpeace Environmental Trust
Part of an international environmental pressure group, which acts against abuse to the natural world. Greenpeace produces a range of poster-style fact sheets for schools.

Groundwork UK
Uses the environment as a tool to engage and motivate local communities to improve their quality of life through a network of 150 local Trusts and contact points. They have substantial experience in environmental youth work in the UK through a network of youth work staff and volunteers who can offer advice and support on tackling sustainable development and regeneration issues locally.

Peace Child International
Peace Child is an international youth and development agency based in the UK with a specific interest in sustainable development. It works to empower children and young people to take responsibility for peace, human rights and the environment through education, leadership development and direct participation in the events that shape our world community.

Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA Education)
RSPCA Education's website for teachers has detailed primary and secondary lesson plans linked mainly to science and citizenship with literacy links. Teachers can print or download them free. There is also a selection of free photo packs, each containing 10 A4 images ready to laminate. Current topics include: minibeasts; life cycles; pets; animals and the law; and habitats. In some areas RSPCA Education can also offer a service where an education officer can come into school and help teachers produce a tailored scheme of work for a class or a whole school.

Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
RSPB is a
charity that takes action for wild birds and the environment. Their education work aims to ensure that young people understand the importance of biodiversity and sustainability and are able to see how their own actions and decisions affect the environment. They run a range of clubs for young people; Wildlife Explorers and Phoenix for under 18 year olds and group membership of Young Ornithologists Club, along with quarterly newsletters.

Save the Children (Youth Education Programme)
Save the Children's Education Unit works across the UK to promote global child rights education in schools and youth groups. The work is underpinned by the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and draws on Save the Children's wider global programme experience. They offer a range of free and priced materials and support and training for youth workers.

Wildlife Trusts
A UK-wide partnership of Wildlife Trusts which work to protect wildlife in town and country. Many Trusts provide educational services to groups and have well developed programmes at local reserves and visitor centres. Wildlife Watch is their environmental club for young people.

Y-Care International
The international development agency of the YMCA movement. It focuses on the needs and contributions of young people in the developing world who face the severest of economic and social conditions. YMCAs work throughout the world to empower youth with education, training and trust.

Youth Hostels Association (YHA)
The YHA provides accommodation for young people to help gain a greater knowledge of the countryside. They currently offer discounts to disadvantaged youth groups, offer some group packages and focus on the environmental impact of visitors.
