Examples of practice
DEA's Global Perspectives in Higher Education project (2000-2004) was established to:
- produce 'curriculum guidance' in the form of generic and indicative learning outcomes for global perspectives in higher education
- work in partnership with a number of higher education institutions to develop exemplar modules across a range of disciplines and levels
- establish support for global perspectives in higher education from major policymaking bodies.
The following examples demonstrate how global perspectives can be integrated into university curricula and practice; there is also a case study of the role of service learning:
- Anglia Polytechnic University
International Development module - Bournemouth University
Global Responsibility and Sustainable Business Practice module - Leeds Metropolitan University
Globalisation and Ethics in the Workplace module - London South Bank University
Partnerships for Sustainability module - Middlesex University
Global Citizenship and Civil Society through Service Learning.
DEA's Global Perspectives in
Higher Education publication reflects on these case
studies, debates the lessons learned and examines ways forward.
