DEA's annual Global
Learning Award celebrated innovative learning opportunities for adults
in England that developed knowledge, attitudes and skills for a global society.
These award-winning projects and programmes offer adults opportunities
to explore how global issues affect local lives and how people can work
together to achieve a more just and sustainable world:
- 2006 winners: Devon Development Education
for their informal community education work at the Global Centre in Exeter - 2004 winners: Preston College and Lancashire Global Education Centre
for their Global Perspectives in English literacy programme - 2003 winners: Walsall College of Arts & Technology
for their 'Achieving Together' citizenship programme for young people - 2002 winners: Amicus-MSF
for their distance learning course for trade union members.
In 2003 DEA invited FE colleges to apply for a small grant of £1,500 to develop one-year Strengthening Global Perspectives in Lifelong Learning pilot projects. These aimed incorporate global perspectives into their course planning, curriculum/staff development and/or their policy procedures. Read brief reports on each project:
