Funding from Europe

GENERAL ADVICE

This document provides general advice on European funding opportunities

EC NGO funding
(budget line 21-02-03, formerly B7-600)

The European Commission (EC) funds projects which raise awareness of the problems facing developing countries and of relations between the South and the North, or are designed to mobilise public support in Europe for development and for strategies and operations benefiting people in developing countries.

Capacity building Packages (CBPs) are also available, which support activities by a number of organisations working on a common theme. DEA has acted as lead organisation in several CBPs. Please contact Sejal Patel for advice or for details of current plans.

To be eligible for the Fund, organisations must be European non-governmental organisations (NGOs) or groups of NGOs, with a major focus on development.

Socrates is a European Union education programme that supports European co-operation on a range of educational projects, initiatives and professional development, providing opportunities for all sectors, including schools, higher education and lifelong learning. It comprises eight parts, or Actions, which aim to improve quality and strengthen the European dimension in education. These include Comenius for school and further education and Grundtvig for adult education and lifelong learning.

The Leonardo da Vinci Programme is the European Union's vocational training programme, which aims to support national strategies on employability, lifelong learning and skills development, through a series of trans-national Community measures.

The European Commission's Youth programme promotes pan European youth interaction and programmes which provide international experience to young people in the UK.
