Faith perspectives

The role of faith perspectives in development work is widely recognised and historically, faith organisations have played a key role in global education.
Many faith communities throughout the UK supported Make Poverty History in 2005 and a number are actively involved in the current campaigns around climate change.
Many large development agencies are rooted in a faiths perspective and DFID has worked with the major faiths to produce publications in support of the poverty-related 2015 Millennium Development Goals.
Within its membership DEA has a wide range of organisations and networks with a faith perspective including the leading churches, and NGOs who have a distinctly faith-based outlook. Black and minorty ethnic organisations form an important sector of DEA's membership; these include organisations rooted in a particular faith perspective.
DEA held a seminar in June 2006, Active Faith: Global Citizenship and Learning for the Future. This aimed to identify the specific contribution of faith communities to global citizenship and sustainable development and consider possible joint initiatives.
