Sustainable Development and Youth Work
This briefing paper, produced jointly by the Development
Education Association and the Council for Environmental Education,
aims to explain how and why the concept of sustainable development
can be integrated into current youth work thinking and practice.
It suggests that 'sustainable development' is a major missing element
in the UK Government's 'Transforming Youth Work' consultation.
The paper briefly outlines a potential model for sustainable development
and youth work, sets out key concepts to explain what 'sustainable
development' means and finally makes a series of recommendations
for action by youth services, the Connexions Service, the Department
for Education and Skills and youth and community work training agencies.
