Higher Education Group
Young people are at the centre of the globalised world, both receptive to and leading change. We need to equip them to negotiate the complexities of globalisation and sustainable development and to embrace opportunities whilst making informed decisions about the future. Youth work practitioners need to be able to support young people on this learning journey to explore and understand how they are connected to environmental and global issues. To this end a group of youth work practitioners, youth work course leaders and other interested individuals have formed a working group to support the teaching of environmental and global youth work in higher education institutions (HEIs).
The ‘Change' group aims to encourage more HEIs to enable their youth work students to confidently embrace environmental and global youth work.
At a practical level the ‘Change' group are promoting environmental and global youth work by increasing understanding, collating relevant resources and materials, providing opportunities to share good practice and signposting to useful events and organisations.
The ‘Change' group is in its infancy and is looking to get more people involved. If you have are interested in learning more or sharing your knowledge and skills in this area please get in touch. We are particularly keen for more HEIs (youth work students and staff) to get involved.
Please contact Lydia Meryll at change@cooptel.net for more information or to get involved in the group
