11 September 2007 - Manifesto for a just and sustainable world

Back to news list

The DEA is developing this policy manifesto to create debate and ultimately to bring about changes in the education system reflecting the DEA’s Mission. The manifesto will analyse the barriers and opportunities to this type of education and propose policy recommendations. Publication is scheduled for summer 2008.

We will be working with a range of partners including policy makers, NGOs, educators and academics. We are developing the process in such a way as to ensure mutually beneficial relationships, for example, we are working with Oxfam who are producing their own policy report in early in 2008 and with WWF on their strategic engagement with people across the education system. Please get involved. There will be a number of ways to do this throughout the year.

  • To submit quick thoughts by email, please see "email your thoughts" and the three key questions below.

  • To submit a DEA Thinkpiece that contributes to the manifesto, see www.dea.org.uk/thinkpieces.

  • There will be a policy roundtable in mid October 2007 and other events and discussion fora throughout the year.

  • There will be a session at the DEA AGM on 22 November on barriers and opportunities to education for a just and sustainable world.

For further information and to get more involved, contact Helen Young at the DEA, email: helen.young@dea.org.uk.
