Roger Clarke has been announced as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees of DEA.  Until recently Dr Clarke was the Chief Executive of the Youth Hostels Association and, before that, Director of the Countryside Agency.

Dr Clarke replaces John Davidson OBE, who is standing down after almost five years in office.

DEA's work in promoting global learning has been endorsed by the Prime Minister, and it recently received significant media coverage for its Ipsos MORI research which showed that one in five young people were in danger of being 'globally illiterate'.

Roger Clarke said,

"I am delighted to be joining DEA. All of us need to think about the impact our lifestyles and decisions have on the planet, and on our fellow citizens.  DEA has an important contribution to make to learning about our global impact, especially amongst young people."

Hetan Shah, Chief Executive of DEA, said,

"I am delighted that Roger is joining us as Chair of the Board. His commitment to a just and sustainable world, and his strategic experience will help take DEA to the next stage in its development.  I'm greatly looking forward to working with him."
