WaterAid |
WaterAid is the UK's only major charity which is dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion to the world's poorest people. At local level it works with partners using low cost practical technologies; at national and international level it seeks to influence institutional water policies. Its educational work promotes understanding of the issues we face. There are resources on its website and publications, WaterLiterate and WaterNumerate, for Key Stage 2 pupils. |
West of Scotland Development Education Centre (WOSDEC) |
WOSDEC works with teachers and others responsible for education to promote global citizenship in schools and to ensure that there is a global dimension throughout Scottish education. Using creative resources and methods they support learning and teaching in a way that encourages young people to be confident and effective contributors to a more just and equitable world. |
Wiltshire Global Education Centre |
The educational wing of Marlborough Brandt Group which has maintained a link with Gunjur, a village in the Gambia, for over 20 years. Aims: to explore opportunities presented by the link and TARUD development programmes to see issues first hand and enable interaction between people of different cultures; to enable young people in Wiltshire and Swindon schools to understand issues such as poverty, sustainable development, basic rights, what is meant by global citizenship and use that knowledge to bring about change; and to continue to make development education resources available by running a resource centre. |
Workers' Educational Association |
The Workers' Educational Association (WEA) is the largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in Britain and provides learning opportunities for over 95,000 people each year. It operates in all nine English Regions and in Scotland and employs over 3,000 part-time tutors. |
World Education Centre/ |
The World Education Centre works in schools, colleges and universities throughout North Wales to promote awareness of education for global citizenship and sustainable development. It has an extensive library of educational resources. |
World Education Development Group |
WEDG (World Education Development Group) works primarily in East Kent and is based in Canterbury. WEDG promotes development education in schools, colleges and community groups by providing resources, workshops, inset and active participation in local networks. WEDG is also a well established partner for local community events. Current projects include: early years and global citizenship; after-school clubs; local fairtrade initiatives; working with refugee children and taking international volunteers into schools. |
| World Studies Trust |
The World Studies Trust was set up in 1988 to promote global education. It works with teachers and teacher educators to incorporate the global dimension in the classroom. It produces resources, runs conferences and undertakes research. |
World Vision |
World Vision is an international Christian development agency. It has around 100,000 regular supporters in the UK who receive news and information. It also produces educational resources and organises events for schools and young people, churches and supporters. |
