One World Centre (Dundee) |
The One World Centre (Dundee) is a Development Education Centre whose aim is to promote the advancement of development education and related issues, particularly trade and debt. It has good links with Dundee University Faculty of Education and Social Work and regularly leads workshops as part of the Initial Teacher Education programme. Links have also been made with educational development departments in the surrounding areas. The Schools Development Education worker is actively involved in projects with other IDEAS members. Other activities include running workshops on global citizenship issues, developing links with community educators and campaigning on fair trade issues. The Centre workers were directly involved in the successful campaign to make Dundee a Fairtrade City. |
One World Centre (Isle of Man) |
One World Centre is a registered charity with support from the Isle of Man government. The aim is to raise island awareness, in schools and the wider community, of global poverty and inequalities, and to encourage a response. Activities will include: a resource centre, outreach work to schools, a programme of events, networking and campaigning for change. |
One World Network North East |
One World Network North East was set up in response to an initiative by the UK Government's Department for International Development called 'Enabling Effective Support'. It aims to fulfill the entitlement of young people in the North East to global education empowering them to act as responsible global citizens, able and committed to shaping the world of the future in the interests of all. Its main objective is to increase the quality and quantity of global education in North East schools. |
One World Week |
One World Week is an annual opportunity to join a worldwide movement of people taking action for justice locally and globally. Thousands of activists in the UK and around the world use the week for activities, events and celebrations to learn about, act on and raise awareness of global issues. With an emphasis on respect, OWW is about working together for global justice; welcoming, challenging and inspiring participants. |
OneWorld UK |
OneWorld is a global network which raises awareness of sustainable development and human rights providing greater opportunities for grassroots communities worldwide through communication technologies and partnership. The OneWorld UK website (www.oneworld.net/uk) provides daily online news and information on global justice and is a gateway to leading-edge OneWorld initiatives, such as OneWorld TV and Radio, the Open Knowledge Network, Mobile4Good, Tiki the Penguin, Guides and the Carbon Countdown. |
Oxfam GB |
Oxfam GB’s Development Education and Youth Programme works through the formal education and informal youth sectors to enable and empower young people to be active global citizens. The programme works in England, Scotland and Wales to influence the education environment, meet the needs of education practitioners and decision makers, and to involve young people through national outreach, training programmes, and movement building. Oxfam delivers this programme through lobbying and advocacy, a grants programme, online and offline publications for teachers, a Catalogue for Schools featuring resources from a wide range of organisations, an international programme, festivals and youth events, direct youth engagement, partnership projects, and our websites. |
