CAFOD |
CAFOD is the overseas development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. Its mission is to promote human development and social justice in witness to Christian faith and Gospel values. CAFOD raises funds to: empower people in need to bring about change; raise public awareness of poverty and injustice, creating the will to change unjust structures and lifestyles; act as an advocate for the poor challenging governments and international bodies. It produces educational resources for schools and young people. |
Cambridge Education Foundation |
Cambridge Education Foundation, the non-profit making arm of Cambridge Education Ltd and one of the consortium partners for the DFID Global School Partnerships initiative, is helping to develop the opportunities for post-graduate accreditation for teachers engaged in a global link. This involves not only universities in the UK, but also higher education institutions within southern partnership countries. Much work has been done in Ghana, the Gambia, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and the Caribbean. Similar work has begun in Pakistan, and has just been extended to Tanzania and Zambia. This is a focused ongoing project, one outcome of which is to link universities worldwide. |
CamFed International |
CamFed aims to extend girls' education in Africa. It has projects in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Ghana. In the UK it works in partnership with the African Studies Centre, University of Cambridge, developing research and advocacy strategies and also have established links between schools in the UK, USA and Ghana. |
Centre for Alternative Technology |
The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is a visitor centre demonstrating renewable energy, eco-buildings, organic growing, natural water treatments, etc. CAT's educational programmes cater for all Key Stages; they run MSc course, provide continuing professional development for teacher, and courses for lifelong learning, residential courses or day visits. Themes include renewable energy, climate change, eco-footprinting, and much more. |
Centre for Cross Curricular Initiatives, London South Bank University |
Centre for Cross Curricular Initiatives is a research and development centre concerned with personal and social development for a sustainable future. The Centre has been involved in a range of research and development programmes in sustainable development education and global citizenship. It is undertaking a long term ITT project on students' values in relation to Sustainable Development Education funded by WWF. The centre is currently involved in the London and the South East Region global dimension programme. |
Centre for Global Awareness |
Formerly Hampshire Development Education Centre, the Centre for Global Awareness offers assistance and advice to its users on bringing a global dimension into their work. This is done through INSET, classroom sessions, loan service and advice to individuals and teachers. Project work has included production of the Thengapalli pack on India First Steps to Rights, exploring rights and responsibilities with 3-7 year olds. |
Centre for Global Education |
The Centre for Global Education is an interdisciplinary, curriculum development centre which supports practitioners in the formal education sector to introduce global issues into the curriculum. These issues include human rights education, sustainable development, anti-prejudice education, peace and futures education. The Centre is also a member of the Education in Human Rights Network. |
Centre for Global Education (Northern Ireland) |
The Centre is a resource base for global and developing world studies. It raises awareness of development issues in the formal and non-formal education sectors through the provision of services that include in-service teacher training, initial teacher education, the production of resources, the provision of a library and organisation of public seminars and events. The centre also carries out advocacy work to enhance development education practice in schools, tertiary education, the youth service and other key sectors in civil society. |
Centre for Inter-African Relations (CEFIAR) |
Centre for Inter-African Relations (CEFIAR) is an African community based organisation whose membership maintains close links with Africa. Its community is well versed in development issues that affect its countries of origin and lives here in the UK. Members bring first hand experiences of development from their countries to feed into DE work, resource materials and participate in training. Centre for Inter-African Relations carries out research and training on development and disseminates findings as widely as possible. |
The Centre for International Development and Training (CIDT) |
The Centre for International Development and Training (CIDT) is an independent, not-for profit centre within the University of Wolverhampton. CIDT provides education and training, consultancy, project management and research to a range of clients, both overseas and in the UK and delivers a postgraduate MSc programme in Development Training and Education for development workers from the North and South. |

Christian Aid |
Christian Aid strives for an end to poverty and campaigns to change the rules that keep people poor. It works wherever the need is greatest, irrespective of religion, supporting local organisations. Christian Aid supports teachers and youth leaders with resources and training that enable the exploration of global development issues, poverty and social justice. Voluntary Christian Aid teachers are available to lead assemblies and support work about southern countries. Christian Aid also has development education offices in Scotland and Wales. Cymorth Cristnogol (Christian Aid Wales) works bilingually and is responsible for producing resources in the Welsh language. |
Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies (CADA) Northern Ireland |
CADA is a network of organisations involved in international development and development education, which aims to build the capacity of the sectors in Northern Ireland in order to positively influence policy makers as well as public opinion and behaviour towards greater global justice and equality. |
Collective Worlds |
Collective Worlds is a UK registered Community Interest Company which facilitates positive connections linking young people and young adults, the communities in which they live and the practitioners with whom they engage to similar individuals and groups in different locations around the world. These connections include, for example, international exchange programmes for young people and practitioners, overseas volunteering experiences and international placements for students engaged in professional training.

Comic Relief |
Around 70% of schools in the UK take part in Red Nose Day. The aim of Comic Relief's Education Department is to make sure that all the young people and teachers who take part in Comic Relief campaigns including Red Nose Day and Sports Relief not only have fun and raise money, but also gain a deeper understanding of the issues that lie behind their fundraising. Comic Relief's Education Programme aims to engage young people in these serious issues in fun and innovative ways. It does this mainly through: providing schools with teaching materials (print, video and on-line), and running competitions and promotions for young people which relate to those teaching materials. |
Commission for Consistent Learning UK |
Commission for Consistent Learning (CCL) is an independent validating and accrediting professional educational institution. CCL facilitates in obtaining professional qualifications such as degrees, post-graduate qualifications and professional body membership. CCL assists any candidates in relation to enhancing their career prospects. CCL also offers services such as certification of educational institutions and invigilation services. |
Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council |
Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council (CYEC) is an educational charity founded in 1970. It supports youth development and global citizenship primarily by promoting locally based two-way group youth exchanges for young people aged 16 -25. Its services include advice, information, grant aid, training, publications and events for young people. Exchange projects develop skills for life-long learning, global citizenship and respect for cultural diversity. CYEC also develops and helps facilitate Commonwealth wide forums for young people, including an active citizenship initiative entitled Citizen You. |
Co-operative Education Development Fund |
The Co-operative College provides learning, education, training and consultancy to the Co-operative and Mutual Sectors in the UK and internationally, with a vision 'to be the world leader in co-operative learning'. The College offers tailored workshops and qulifications for members, directors, staff and managers in co-operatives, social enterprises and mutual organisations. It also works with schools, young people and public bodies, raising awareness of the difference co-operatives and co-operative values can make to individuals and their communities. The College currently leads a consortium of co-operative organisations in the UK in a strategic grant agreement with the Department for International Development and is also the training partner of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI). |
Cornwall Association for Development Education |
Cornwall Association for Development Education is a resource centre on development education for all of Cornwall, especially schools and organisations. Activities include workshops and training on sustainable development and global citizenship. Current projects developing schemes of work and resources to integrate the poverty-reduction agenda into nine subject areas of the school curriculum. It is also running a global citizenship education support programme for secondary schools. |
Craven Development Education Centre |
Craven DEC is a resource base for development education materials used by teachers, youth workers, churches and community organisations. It is very involved in raising awareness about faith and development issues through running conferences, facilitating school visits, providing resources and education plus writing and promoting devotional and learning materials for lay training and community action. |
Cumbria Development Education Centre (CDEC) |
The Centre works in cooperation with teachers, higher education staff, LEA staff and other providers to promote development education and a greater understanding of our global community. Through the provision of resources, training, advice and through the encouragement of debate and action they seek to enable others to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for life in a multicultural and interdependent world. |
Cyfanfyd |
As the Development Education Association for Wales, Cyfanfyd, through its broad membership base, is the leading advocate of development awareness in Wales. There are a number of organisations in Wales involved in development education, across the three sectors of formal education, youth work and lifelong learning. Cyfanfyd was established in 1991 as a forum for sharing information and disseminating good practice amongst these organisations. |
