This two and a half day non-residential practical workshop is for head teachers, curriculum managers, teachers, classroom assistants, learning mentors and governors across KS1-KS4 with an interest in:

  • Developing global citizenship
  • Raising standards in literacy, thinking, speaking and listening
  • Enriching spiritual, social, moral and cultural development

  The workshop will:

  • Explore the aims, principles and benefits of philosophical enquiry
  • Give participants sufficient practical understanding of philosophical enquiry to enable them to start practising it in their own schools
  • Explore how philosophical enquiries can develop Global Citizenship skills, concepts and dispositions and tackle
  • controversial issues.

Date: Tues 21st Sept 2010 4.30-6.30pm, Wed 22nd Sept, Wed 6th Oct 2010 9.30am-4.30pm

Course fee: £265 including lunches, refreshments, Sapere Level 1 Handbook and half price membership and certificate

Trainers:

  • Helen Griffin, a registered Sapere (national umbrella body for P4C) trainer is an experienced teacher who has delivered CPD on Global Citizenship to educators across South Yorkshire in her role as Education Officer at Development Education Centre (South Yorkshire), DEC(SY).
  • Rob Unwin, Education Officer at DEC(SY) is trained to Level 2 P4C and has been delivering CPD on the Global Dimension across South Yorkshire for over 15 years.

Please note cancellation fees are as follows: 25% of fee 4 weeks before course; 50% 2 weeks before and 100% less than 2 weeks before course. If a participant or substitute fails to attend the course, the full fee will be charged.
